Overview

The Mohs Coordinator reports to Mohs Access Manager. The Mohs Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring seamless coordination of Mohs surgery procedures, excisions, patient care, and communication with healthcare teams. This position requires exceptional organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

 

  • Knowledge of Mohs Appropriate Use Criteria.
  • Receive all incoming patient calls regarding Mohs (its own queue).
  • See that the phone is answered before the third ring. Collect and respond to messages left on the Mohs voicemail.
  • Schedule Mohs surgery and excision procedures.
  • Coordinating repair for complex cases with plastics/oculoplastics.
  • Perform Mohs surgical phone consults, managing pathology logs and workflow, communicating results to patients as directed by the provider.
  • Triaging and processing referrals via fax and email from outside providers.
  • Verifying insurance coverage, referrals, and provide procedure codes to PA department for prior authorization when applicable.
  • Preparing surgical patient packets to be mailed or sent through EMR.
  • Review surgical schedules daily for accuracy.
  • Maintain schedule to capacity/avoiding excessive overbooking.
  • Oversee/maintain organized cancellation list the wait list, move up promptly when an appointment slot opens.
  • Coordinate rescheduling of all cancellations.

Qualifications

 

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • Mandatory High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • Preferred dermatology, Mohs experience and or surgical scheduling
  • Preferred Medical assistant certification

Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Working knowledge of EMA, Athena GE, GE Centricity, and Epic
  • Complete Administrative Proficiency (Microsoft Office Suite, Web-based applications, email, or related software)
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Must possess strong problem-solving abilities and analytical skills to ensure patient’s needs are met.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills required to communicate with patients, family members, clinicians, as well as other colleagues in a positive, professional manner.
